Fabric for the Crib Bedding! Pat Bravo – Art Gallery Fabrics

Late into the night, when I should have been sleeping, I was freaking out about not having the nursery done enough yet, lol!  Most of you know that I’m planning on making Mabel’s crib bedding myself since her nursery colors are so unique that I pretty much made it impossible to find pre-made bedding that would match.  I’ve spent the past 3 months scouring the internet trying to find a fabric collection that would work, and after pulling out lots of hair over this decision, I put my foot down and bought some at around 1:30am!

This is what I decided would match the ‘peacock’ coloring’ of Mabel’s nursery:

I’m planning on doing a tiered ruffled crib skirt alternating in these two fabrics:

These are some other prints in the collection that I bought to make the crib sheet and possibly a few changing pad covers:

This collection had all the colors I needed, aqua, purple (some pics look gray but it’s lilac), and a goldish yellow.  Made my night!

Now, I am thinking I may have undertaken a lot and I’m not sure how good my sewing skills are but along time ago I had decided that there was no way I was going to pay close to $400 for someone to make it for me off of Etsy!  Plus most of the makers on Etsy are still including crib bumpers, which I will not be using, so why do I want to pay for one?

Currently, I’ve spent about $170 on fabric.  I bought my fabric from Hawthorne Threads online.  They give discounts according to the volume you buy…score!  Compared to designer crib bedding sets, that’s a steal.  I still have to buy some thread and elastic but that should be pennies!  I’m thinking overall, it will cost around $200.  To me, that’s not bad for getting a completely one of a kind bedding for Mabel’s room!

On a side note, check out Pat Bravo’s website.  She has a lot of really neat fabric collections.  Also her site is full of tutorials and free patters for projects!

I’ll keep you posted on my progress!
