Let’s Start Juicing!

My post from a couple of days ago talked about how I’ve decided I want to start juicing.  After seeing the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead by Joe Cross, I made my husband watch it too.  He was intrigued…and we both decided that juicing was something we wanted to try!

I made my purchase and two days later our glorious juicer arrived!

We decided on the Breville Multi-Speed Juice Fountain since Breville was the brand used in the documentary and all Breville models seem to have amazing reviews online.  It says the retail price is $199 but I found it on Amazon for $50 less!  Keep in mind that prices fluctuate daily on Amazon, so the price might rise or drop by the day.

Woo hoo!

So, since I knew it would be arriving, I had my husband stop off at the grocery store before he came home and pick up a bunch of veggies and fruits from juice recipes that I found on RebootYourLife (a site run by Joe Cross from the documentary.  I was pretty excited!

And don’t freak out…I didn’t put all of that produce into one drink, lol!  I just felt healthier having all of that in the house.  😉  Yep, I’m a dork.

And here’s another shot of our glorious new juicer all cleaned and put together.

What did we make first?  The Green Grape and Pear Juice from the RebootYourLife site.  It had a really vibrant green color and it was pretty tasty!  😉

I LOVE this machine!  You can vary the speed according to whether you have soft fruits or harder veggies which made juicing a breeze.  Also, cleanup was pretty easy.  I made sure to clean everything right after I was done making our juice.  The one semi-pain was cleaning the mesh strainer but it’s like that with every juicer.  And this model’s strainer was actually a lot easier to clean than the other brand juicer I had a few years ago.  Took about 2-3 mins max!  Totally do-able!

With a positive juice experience under my belt from last night, I have to tell you that I’m even more inspired to juice on a regular basis!  In the documentary, the guy goes on a juice fast for 60 days…well, I won’t be doing that but I actually like the idea of doing a ‘long weekend fast’.  And for those of you who are skeptical, understand that when juicing…you’re still eating!  You’re just drinking all of your nutrients rather than chewing them.

My husband and I will be juicing for this weekend (Friday-Sunday) and when Monday rolls around I will do a post updating you on how it went and how I feel.  🙂

If you haven’t watched the documentary yet…do it!

Stay tuned!  And feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section!  I’ll try my best to answer them!

So glad you are blogging about this! Matt and I have toyed around with a 3-day juice cleanse for a while now. Do you find yourself feeling hungry? I feel like when I have soup for lunch or dinner I’m always starving shortly after, so I’m interested to know if that will be the same with juicing. I’m sure after the first day or so that feeling would go away.

Hmm…a whole weekend of juice?! sounds brilliant. I make my own smoothies which i have everyday for breakfast for a couple weeks, eat light but regular the rest of the day, and it also helps me slim down and feel good. good luck, lady!

Juicing totally changed my life two years ago after I watched “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. I had got into some really bad eating habits and it was literally killing me. The moment I watched that movie everything changed. I bought a juicer that week and started juicing. Sure it was hard at first, but after about two weeks I was hooked and starting to heal. I eventually went on to do 90 days straight of juice fasting, got off all medication and started exercising regularly. I got down to my ideal weight and today I feel amazing. It’s great to know that other people are starting their juicing journeys every day. I loved your post and felt moved to leave you a comment. I know a lot of people will find your post inspiring and helpful and it will helpfully start many others on their juicing journeys. I’ve tweeted about this to all my followers so you may get some new people checking out your blog!

    Thanks
    Denise 🙂
