It’s Pumpkin Carving Time!

Fall is my favorite season.

Cold weather clothing…boots, scarves, jeans!
Crunchy leaves, crisp air.
Spending lots of time with family.
AND…
Pumpkins!  Pumpkin spice, pumpkin pie, pumpkin candles…and pumpkin carving!

We took a trip to our local farm the other day to get our pumpkins…I can’t get enough of all of the beautiful colors!

After making our way home, it was time to get our carving on!  Mabel is still a tad too small to help out (hopefully next year!) so I was the one who manned all the pumpkin carving tools!  I’m really looking forward to when she can join both me and her father while carving pumpkins, it’s such a fun family tradition.

This year we were lucky enough to get hooked up with a variety of Pumpkin Masters carving tools…I’ve been seeing them for the past couple of years at our local grocery stores and places like Walmart and Target, but this was the first year that I actually got my hands on them to try them out.

Let me show you what we had to work with:

Pumpkin Masters Kits

So many neat kits and ideas!  I ended up using the kit in the bottom left of the photo (above), the classic Pumpkin Carving Kit.  Hey, you can’t go wrong with classic!

Call me a worry wort, but I’m always afraid of slicing my hand off while carving pumpkins…lol, it’s never good to take a giant kitchen knife to anything for that matter.  With the Pumpkin Master kits I was able to relax since the tools were easier to handle.

After reading over the directions included in my kit, I got to work!  I taped the photo that I chose onto my pumpkin and used the little stencil tool to mark where I needed to cut.  This is what it looked like:

You can see the outline of the ghost!  Everything is really simple and the directions are foolproof.

This is what I ended up with:

ghost pumpkin

Not too shabby, huh?!  It’s honestly the nicest pumpkin I’ve ever made so I’ll admit I’m pretty proud of it!

And as a finishing touch, I added the strobe lights!  My little video below will show you the multicolored option and then the regular option.  I think it’s a pretty neat finishing touch!

Now if you feel like getting creative Pumpkin Masters is holding their yearly carving contest!  It runs until October 31st and all of the rules and ways to enter can be found here.  There are a handful of prizes, including $5,000 for the best pumpkin!

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
