I wrote this blog post as part of a movement by Weight Watchers to encourage people to remember that loving yourself starts with taking care of your health everyday. Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, all of my views are 100% my own!
Most of you know that over the past week and a half that my husband, Mabel and I have been visiting family in Texas. Well…it’s not exactly easy to be super healthy while making a road trip across the country, let alone be healthy in Texas due to all the yummy food options! So yes, I’ll admit that I’ve been stuffing my face with food that I can’t get in Delaware but I haven’t been throwing everything out the window when it comes to my health, both mentally and physically.
While in Texas, I’ve been making a conscious effort to be more active even though I’m enjoying all the Texas food. I was given a list of activities to help keep me motivated from Weight Watchers that are a part of their new Simple Start program. And by simple…I mean simple!
When we go out, I make sure to park in one of the furthest spots away from the door…I’m making those extra steps count!
I’ve been doing David Kirsch’s Anytime, Anywhere Workout, which is simple, fast and efficient! And especially great since I don’t need any extra equipment to do it and it can be done in a hotel room while we travel!
And then of course I took Weight Watcher’s suggestion to make time for myself! I’ve been able to get in a little reading on my Kindle here and there when Mabel takes naps and I’ve also been trying to get 8 hours of sleep. I’m very thankful for my mother in law who has gotten up early to help watch Mabel while my husband and I get the rare chance to sleep in.
Lastly, I’ve been all about rewarding myself too! All work and no play is never any good, right?! So I treated myself to two new nail polish colors (when do I ever have time to paint my nails? I have to take advantage when we have family that can help take care of Mabel!). 🙂
Overall, I feel pretty good with just adding these extra activities. Though I have to admit I’m ready to get back on track with eating right once we get home from our trip! I’m planning on starting Weight Watcher’s Simple Start online plan which will provide me with recipes that are healthier choices and a phone app to help me make better decisions if I dine out!
Here’s to a new me…on vacation and at home!
I always try to park in the back of the lot to get extra steps in and not going to lie people can’t hold onto their doors in this windy state. I know I may look crazy when there is no other car in the lot but hey it works.
