Pregnancy Recap…The First Trimester

Since I kept this pregnancy a secret for almost all of the first trimester, I figured a recap would be good for those of you who are interested.  😉

11 weeks - baby is the size of a lime
Baby should be around the size of a lime! It’s kind of silly comparing him/her to fruit…don’t worry, I’m not going to go all cheesy on you every week during this pregnancy. 😉

I hit the glorious 12 week mark tomorrow and welcome the start of the 2nd trimester.  Maybe I can get some relief from my headaches, peeing every 20 minutes, and tiredness?  Lol, who am I kidding!?

But I have to admit, this time around…it’s been different than with Mabel.  Mabel’s pregnancy was fairly easy; no morning sickness was the biggest thing and I didn’t know how good I had it!  This time around, I had it…but it wasn’t too bad.  It was 4 straight weeks of constant nausea but no throwing up (thank goodness).

My headaches this time around have been daily and I’m almost certain it’s due to stress since I mainly feel them in the back of my neck.  My advice:  don’t try to relocate/move when you’re pregnant…if it can be avoided.  But apparently being pregnant is my thing when moving, since I was pregnant with Mabel when we moved from Colorado to Delaware.  But back to the headaches…maybe it’s also due to not drinking enough water?  I know, I know…shame on me…but my issue with water this early in the game is that it gives me killer heartburn (I seriously didn’t have this issue until the 3rd trimester last time around).  But it is what it is.  Tums are just going to be my best friend until February and this child will probably end up with a ton of hair just like Mabel had when she was born.

So I’ve had a few questions already this time around that I figured I’d address too:

Will I be doing vlogs again?  Yes, I’m hoping to…I finally got a new computer (my old computer was so full that it wouldn’t let me store any new vlogs so that’s pretty much the reason why I stopped).  My in-laws are coming to visit next week, so I’m going to try to start up after that…if my headaches let up.

Will we be finding out the gender? Yep…I’m not a surprise kind of person.  😉

Hospital or Birth Center this time around?  We’re hoping to do a midwife run birth center again this time around.  I had such an amazing experience with the midwives at The Birth Center in Wilmington, Delaware that we’ve been looking around to find a similar place in South Carolina.  The two in the area are both around an hour and a half drive, so let’s just hope I don’t end up having this next baby in the car, lol!  And as with Mabel, I’m also hoping to go med free again…call me crazy.

Water birth?  Maybe…last time I wasn’t able to try since the one water birth room was taken when I was in labor with Mabel.  The birth center that we are looking at now has a birthing tub in every room so it should be an option this time around.

I plan on starting my weekly updates next week but until then if you have any questions, please leave them for me and I’ll do my best to answer!  Feel free to ask midwife/birth center questions too…I try to help with those!

So excited to follow along with your second pregnancy, congrats!!! With my second trimester I had the worst headaches and no amount of water or sleep would help them. My OB suggested I take a magnesium supplement since pregnancy can deplete your magnesium supply. I tried a 250 mg capsule and my headaches were gone almost immediately. I just took it with my prenatal every day and definitely helped! No more headaches The whole rest of the pregnancy. Just thought I’d pass that along. 🙂

A big congrats to you Haley! 🙂 12 weeks will be here before you know it (or maybe they just went super fast for me since that past month has been crazy and I didn’t have a lot of time to think about it, lol! I hope you feel better soon and get rid of that morning sickness!

Congrats again. I’m 15w 5d with my second. First felt like a breeze compared to this one. I too have straight nausea 8weeks started to ease up week 13 but unbelievable headaches that no amount of sleep , or watercan fix so far. I have my 16w on monday so hoping to find out what I can do. I wish I could get a midwife in winnipeg mb you have a chance of getting one if your 2w pregnant any longer no chance. I had such a bad ob first time I’ve heard good things about midwives but no luck. So fingers crossed for a good ob. I started following you after mabel was born so looking forward to seeing what everyone its taking about with vlogs.

Congrats right back at you! 😉 I seriously thought second pregnancies were supposed to be easier than the first, boy was I wrong! Let me know if you get any advice on the headaches since I’m taking all the tips that I can. I’ll also send positive vibes your way that you get a good doctor too. 🙂

Yep! 🙂 I just don’t know if I’m going to find out early yet or if I’ll be waiting until the 20 weeks ultrasound. From there we’ll go about figuring out a name and I’ll share that too.

PLEASE vlog this pregnancy, that’s how I found you in the first place and it made me so happy to watch all of your vlogs, luckily you had tons done when I found them so I could marathon some each day and I have still watched them over and over again. It really gives me something to look forward to! Thanks and big congrats!

Aw, thank you! I’m trying to motivate myself to do vlogs this time around. Somehow my tripod got misplaced in the move, but I’m going to order a new one if I can’t find it this weekend. 🙂 Thanks so much for the congrats!
