New Year’s What?

be kind to yourself quote
Be Kind To Yourself

I’m already tired of reading all the New Year’s Resolution or ‘word of the year’ posts (seriously, if I gave myself one word, I’d probably forget it in a month, lol!) but hopefully you can stomach just one more…

And yes, I’m guilty of overdoing the resolutions in the past.  Care to see an old example?  What was I thinking complicating it so much?  The more complicated it is…the less likely I am going to be able to be successful.

What is my goal this year…short and sweet:  BE KIND TO MYSELF.

Who isn’t guilty of thinking they need to be better at one thing or another, lose an extra pound, putting themselves down, comparing themselves to another person/parent, or just overall being too hard on herself?  I’ll be the first to admit I probably do all of those way too often (judge if you will, but I have no problem admitting it).  With all of that comes stress that just plain isn’t needed!

I just need to let it go…and how horrible is it that as I type that I can hear my child belting out ‘LEETTTTT IT GOOOOO’ from Frozen.  Shoot me.   But seriously….let that crap go!  No more harping on myself!

I’ve also found that it’s easy to lose myself as a mother by taking care of everyone else but myself…I need to make time for me (I know, way easier said than done, right?)…but it all falls into the being kind to yourself category.  And I’m talking about simple stuff such as making time to go out with a friend without kiddos in tow (yep, that means Hubby is watching the kids), a little pampering with a pedicure, or even just taking 30 minutes to have some uninterrupted craft time.  Simple things just for me.

When you’re happier = everyone is happier.

So there you have it…I want to be nicer to myself.

I know it won’t be super easy and it’ll take some practice and reminding…but since I’ll be bringing another little baby into this world, this motto is something I’m holding myself to this year!

Did you give yourself a resolution for 2015?  Did you keep it simple, make it complicated, or just not do one at all?

My new years resolution was pretty much the same, take time for myself. I bought a year membership to Massage Envy, so every month I can get a massage and facial, and just have some ME time.

I’m jealous since that sounds amazing! We don’t have any place like that around here and I’m already kicking myself for complaining about Dover since Sumter has even less to do/places to go to. Make note to try to avoid Shaw if at all possible, lol! 🙂

Oh no! Sorry you got some place worse than Dover! Yeah, we’re hoping to avoid Shaw if we can. You would love it here at Wright-Patterson, so if your hubby needs a staff job next go around, definitely have him ask for WP.

Yeah, he’s got a staff job here so who knows what the AF’s plans will be for our next pcs! I just want them to send us to a bigger town/city. He at least loves his job here so that’s what makes this place tolerable. 🙂
