Momma Brain

I’m a Sisterhood of Motherhood Partner but as always my thoughts are 100% my own.

Today I’m talking about what I like to call ‘momma brain‘…which is pretty much losing my mind on a daily basis now that Millie is here.  Now, I’m not talking about it in a crazy way; more so just forgetting every.single.thing I could possibly forget.  I’m sure a bunch of you know what I’m talking about…

Where did I put my phone?

I swear I just put a burp cloth over there.

Did I buy ground beef for the dinner recipe I’m making tonight?

When did I last get a shower?  (Yep, I’m pretty ashamed about that one).

I’m guessing it’s pretty much a combo due to lack of sleep (Millie has her nights and days mixed up and stays awake for hours each night) and the fact that my brain is constantly on Millie’s needs rather than almost everything else.

I remember having ‘momma brain’ with Mabel but not this badly…or maybe my ‘momma brain’ just helped me to forget how bad it really was.  Haha…my attempt to be funny.

And if I remember correctly, it does get better over time…but for now I’ll just be left questioning my sanity.  Honestly I ran around like a crazy woman yesterday looking for my glasses only to have my husband shake his head at me and tell me they were on my head.  I know that sounds cliché but it truly happened.

Does anything help?  Um…if you were to walk into my kitchen you’d see that it’s flooded with sticky notes (and it’s a complete mess because who has time for cleaning, right?).  I guess I feel better if I write myself notes when I think of something so even if I forget it…I’ll be bound to see it later in the day and be reminded.

I’m going to admit that I think only sleep and time eventually cures ‘momma brain’.  At least I hope it does.

I figure as long as Millie and Mabel are taken care of…I’ll survive my case of ‘mamma brain’, lol!

What’s the silliest thing you’ve done after becoming a mom and having a case of serious lack of sleep?  Leave your keys in the fridge, wear two different shoes out of the house (I’ve come close to this one), or just forget something simple?

I partnered with Similac for this post for their #SisterhoodUnite campaign.  I hope you’ll take a second to view this awesome viral video and join in the Sisterhood to help promote mothers standing together rather than judging one another!

Mom brain is so real. I can’t even tell you how many doctors appointments I completely forgot about in my second baby’s first few months or how many times I poured OJ in my coffee. Your brain stops being your own in the first weeks of the second babys life. I have driven right past where I was heading and ended up at a completely different place. At least you haven’t forgotten a kid somewhere. That counts for something, right?

I went a whole day speaking to no one. I wasn’t angry or upset. I simply forgot what I wanted to say every single time I opened my mouth. Luckily, my husband took over and made me sleep!
