Get Your Face On – e.l.f. Edition

Get Your Face On - e.l.f. Edition - Super simple and quick on the go makeup tutorial!

So the other day I went a little crazy buying e.l.f. products (eyes lips face…not Santa’s minions) and posted a pic of my loot here.

And I was surprised with the feedback that I received on Facebook!  Apparently a lot of you have some favorites of this brand (myself included) so I figured I’d share my thoughts after creating a super simple/quick on the go face with just e.l.f products.  FYI – e.l.f. has no clue who this momma is nor do they know about this post, lol!

Now I’m not going to talk about every single product I bought the other day but if this post goes well, I’ll do another one discussing more products…I don’t want to keep you stuck here reading a mile long post!

It’s time to Get Your Face On!
And before you laugh…I don’t claim to know a whole bunch about makeup nor do I wear a ton of it.  I like to keep a natural look most of the time and I like products that are quick to put on (because who has a ton of time when you have kids?!)

Here are the products I used:

From Top to Bottom:
Hydrating Face Primer
High Definition Powder
Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Gala
Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer in Champagne
Blending Eye Brush
Small Smudge Brush
HD Lifting Concealer in Fair
Glossy Gloss in Ballet Slippers
Matte Lip Color in Natural
All Over Color Stick in Persimmon
Mineral Eye Liner
Mineral Infused Mascara

Okay get ready to shield your eyes…here’s my face with absolutely nothing on it.  I deal with redness, a few blemishes here and there, dark under eyes and since I’m a blonde, my eyelashes are almost invisible when I’m not wearing any makeup.

Annnd it was Sunday, so yes…I was wearing a t-shirt.  It’s an Air Force one…so Go Falcons!  😉

Anyway…I primed my face with the Hydrating Face Primer and then put a dab of the Eyelid Primer on my lids all the way up to my brow bone.  After that dried, I used my finger to dab the Lustrous Eyeshadow onto my lids and then gently swept it up to slightly above my eyelid crease.  Then I lined my upper lids with the Mineral Liner and ran the smudge brush over it to soften it.  I put a little dab of the concealer under my eyes, patted it out with my finger and used the blending brush to dab some HD Powder on it to set it.  Lastly, I dipped the smudge brush into the Lustrous Shadow, and lightly ran it under my lower lashes as a liner and finally topped everything off with the the Mineral Mascara.

Then came taking away the redness in my face.  Because I was aiming for a quick look, I stuck to just the concealer and no foundation.  I dabbed bits of the concealer where needed and then I set everything with the HD Powder.  I applied the All Over Color Stick onto my cheeks and the matte lip color onto my lips.

Now from the photos, I can tell that the concealer wasn’t exactly my color…it’s a tiny bit too yellow.  I’m pretty fair skinned and have a pink undertone but most concealers have yellow undertones.  Ugh.

Moving on…

I topped everything off with some Glossy Gloss and tada…ready to go!

Overall thoughts:
For the price point, I don’t have too many complaints but I’ll be honest that most of the products don’t have the same feel as some of my go-to favorites from NARS and Urban Decay.

Products I love –

*HD Powder – I’ve found this to be a great setting powder and at only $6, you can’t beat it!

*All Over Color Stick – I really like the natural color this stick gives off.  Perfect pigmentation and reminds me a lot of the more expensive NARS Multiple sticks.

*Matte Lip Color – Great color/pigmentation…also lived true to it’s name with being matte.

Products I’m not going to use again –
*The Lifting Concealer – It wasn’t bad but it doesn’t provide enough coverage for me AND it’s too yellow for my skin.  It’s the lightest shade they have…so I’m out of luck!

*The Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer – I’d read good things about this stuff…and maybe the non shimmery one is okay but this stuff is NOTHING compared to Urban Decay’s Shadow Potion.  My eyeshadow was creasing only a few hours after put it on.

And the rest of the products that I didn’t mention either loving or hating, they were neutral.  I’ll continue to use them to see if they grow on me or if I can live with out them.

I still have a bunch more products from my purchase and I’ll be posting my thoughts soon!

Do you have any e.l.f. products that you love or hate?
