Anatomy According to Mabel

Potty Training

We’re full swing into potty training again…

Yeah, I was hoping this would have been a thing of the past last spring but due to our move and living with family for a month and then a hotel…things got delayed.  Life happens.  Not to mention, Mabel slightly regressed after we got to our new town and home just because it was a whole lotta change in a small period of time.  Tiny humans love routine and boy did we turn her life upside down.

So anyway…here we are working on potty training again.  She’s still not horribly interested but has no problem sharing that she’s about to go or just went.  She’ll occasionally humor me with sitting on the potty, and then fills her time ripping chunks of toilet paper from the roll and flushing them; “Bye bye water!“.

I figure it’ll happen in time…when she’s ready, she’s ready…and something I won’t stress about.

BUT one thing we’ve been talking about lately is our anatomy.  Mabel started calling her lady parts a butt and I figured it was time to make the distinction between the parts.

Simple = vagina and butt.  Which one is which…and where each one is.  No ‘hoo-haa’ or ‘coochi’…just plain and simple vagina.

But here’s the thing…toddlers have no filter or shame.  Mabel’s new trick is telling everyone who will listen that she has a ‘china’ and a butt and will happily point to where each is located.  Say it loud and proud sister!

Just maybe not the to strangers in the grocery store…for momma’s sake please.

Oh Mabel…you make life very interesting.  🙂

So true! I was hoping to have her potty trained by now but I’m learning that I have to wait until she’s ready. 🙂 It’ll happen eventually.

Thanks for the update! I figured there would have been a massive announcement if she was diaper-free! “China” is hilarious and will make for a good memory of this time

I wish she was…I was hoping she’d be completely potty trained by now and I think it might have happened if we hadn’t have moved, but oh well! It’ll happen sooner or later. 🙂

That is so funny! a “china” lol Mabel is so cute! When I potty trained my daughter it took a while too because we also moved and she experienced a lot of change too. She was a little over 2 1/2 when she was finally day potty trained, took a little longer for nigh time. Mabel will get the hang of it soon, shes a smart girl 🙂
I try to teach my daughter correct anatomy too. She’s adopted and we were reading a childrens book when she was 3, about adoption and it talked about how babies grow in a uterus. And she asked, so I explained to her what a uterus was and she was so proud of herself for knowing. “Mommy, I have a uterus. You have a uterus. And Daddy has a uterus.” I corrected her but for a while she thought is was the funiest thing to just randomly call someone a uterus! lol
