Oh Yesterday…

Okay so yesterday was a very long day…

It consisted of waking up at 5:30am to get ready, wake the toddler and then drive myself the hour and a half to our birth center (yep, it’s a 3 hour round trip drive and when it comes to labor I’ll probably be that woman who gives birth on the side of the road trying to get there in time) in order to take my 3 hour glucose tolerance test.

Orange…IMO way worse than the fruit punch…but I wasn’t given a choice this time.

Why on earth would you bring your toddler to your 3 hour glucose test…well, when your husband is out of town, you have no options.  He owes me…majorly.  So if you find yourself in the position of having to take that test, desperately plead with someone to watch your kid(s).  Luckily, Mabel was pretty well behaved for the total of 4 hours we were in the office but it just wasn’t ideal…not to mention chasing a toddler around while on a massive sugar high and then crash = no fun.

So the quick 4 hour rundown:  3 hours consisted of me and that darn drink/getting stuck with a needle a handful of times (twice the sticks failed…ugh).  I have two bruises on one arm, one on the back of one hand, one on the other wrist, and two more on the other arm.  I’ll be perfectly happy if I’m never stuck with a needle again…

The last hour was waiting for my regular appointment.  Baby Girl #2 had a strong heartbeat and is still measuring on the smaller side.  Perfectly fine with me as long as she’s healthy!  🙂

As for my results…I’ll know either at the end of today or Monday…I couldn’t get an exact answer.  They are closed today so one nurse said Monday and another said today.

We were ready to drive back home…and of course Mabel fell asleep.  So you know what that means?  She for sure wouldn’t take a nap once we got home…and I was desperate for one due to the massive sugar crash.  But that’s when I’m the horrible parent that you keep seeing FB articles on about ‘ipads messing up your child’ (seriously screw those stupid articles) and gave her Thomas The Tank Engine on Netflix and prayed she would be interested for a few mins so I could clock in a power nap.  Success.

**Update – read my 3 hour test results here**

But later in the day, apparently Mabel had used up all her good behavior at the birth center because this happened:

toddler problems

She was being too quiet and then came over to say that she had something to show me.

Baby lotion…completely empty…and filling up one of her bathroom drawers.

It could be worse, but lotion is a pain to get out of a drawer.  And hey, at least she fessed up.  She keeps thinking that all she has to say to make things better is,  ‘sorry mama‘.

Sneaky toddler…

At least she made bed time fairly easy for me last night.  🙂

You poor thing! A THREE hour drive just to get to your 4-hour long doctor’s visit with your young daughter?! Power to you, momma! I’m currently expecting our second daughter in January and I’m already trying to figure out how I’m going to juggle doctor visits and errands with two kids by myself… But you survived and that’s what we do as mommies. =] I hope you were able to catch a moment to relax even just for a little while!
