Lately I’ve been doing really well with eating healthier and making better choices, so for lunch last yesterday I enjoyed a pear and almond salad.
It’s pretty easy to make:
*a bowl full of mixed greens (I added some fresh spinach too!)
*1/4 cup almonds
*1/4 cup of reduced sugar Craisins (I can’t tell the difference from the regular Craisins so why not go with the reduced sugar version?)
*1 pear cut into chunks (I’m not a pro so my chunks didn’t look pretty, lol!)
But if you’re anything like me, you can’t eat a salad without a dash of some kind of dressing. All in moderation of course!
Here’s where my new Salad Zinger that Zing Anything sent me came into play! You might remember a review I did earlier this year for their Citrus Zinger which I still love today, so I was pretty excited to try this product out!
So what does it do? It lets you infuse flavors from herbs, fruits, veggies and more to create healthy vinaigrettes, unique dressings, and yummy oils! And it’s really easy to use; stuff the non-liquid ingredients in the lower compartment, cap it with the grinder lid and then screw the bottle portion on. When you attach the bottle portion, the grinder rotates while you twist, helping to mash up the lower ingredients that are to be infused with the oils or dressings you add to the top. Once you add the liquids, you shake the Salad Zinger, which mixes all the ingredients and flavors. Then you let it sit for a while to let the flavors intensify! Yum! And at the top of the Salad Zinger, there is a pour spout plug that easily comes out for cleaning and also a cap so that you can store your dressings and oils for later use.
I decided to use their recipe that came with my Salad Zinger to make a pear vinaigrette:
After mixing my vinaigrette, I stored it in the fridge for 2 hours as per the directions and it was ready to enjoy with my pear almond salad.
It was absolutely delicious and I could taste the hint of pear in the vinaigrette. I added a dash to my salad and let’s just say that my lunch was absolutely divine.
I’ve learned that eating healthy can be fun and yummy too!
And FYI, I cleaned my Salad Zinger which I thought would be tricky…but it was actually really easy! I’m already planning on creating some garlic infused olive oil for dipping bread with our next Italian meal. 😉
