Project Life: Week 1

Project Life: Week 1 2014 Full Layout

I completed my first Project Life layout for Week 1 and I have to admit it was pretty satisfying to slide all the finished photos and cards into each of their photo pockets when I was done.

I’d be lying if I said it was easy (it probably should have been but I tend to make things way more complicated than they really are)…it took over a week of finding bits of free time here and there to get everything completed.  And I quickly learned that in order to get this done every week for the upcoming year, I’m going to have to tame my OCD/perfectionist side and constantly remind myself that imperfections are okay…they are actually what makes life interesting.

Here is an up-close shot of the left side:

I’ve also had to tell myself that every photo won’t always be amazing (as in super clear).  My photos will be grainey or slightly out of focus…and once again…that’s okay.  I’m finding that it’s more important to capture the moment and if I only have my cell phone on me rather than my dslr, use it or lose the moment!

I’m pretty happy with my title/week card:

Project Life: Week 1 2014 Title Card with Fabric Ruffle

I used a card that came in the Copper Mountain Studio Calico kit and I think what I’m most in love with is the ruffle!  I sewed a ruffle from scrap fabric that I had around and then sewed it right on to the card…simple as that!

My other favorite card (shown below) was created from another card that came in my Studio Calico kit, some Studio Calico letter stamps and some cute wood veneers.  I used the arrows to point to the surrounding photos of Mabel opening some gifts.  🙂

As you can see…I really enjoyed sewing on my cards.

I tried to stick with warm colors, mainly reds, yellows, and some orange.  I also can’t stand my handwriting so a lot of my tags were done with my typewriter.  An up-close example of one of the typed tags is below and is accentuated with some enamel dots and a star.

I also created a card for January.  I found a free January 2014 Silhouette cut file on Nina Christensen’s blog here and then added silver washi tape to the back and stuck some snowflake sequins in between the two cards to give it more depth.

Overall, I was pretty happy with Week 1.  I feel like it might have turned out a little busy…or a bit of a mish-mash but I still like it.  I’m looking forward to discovering my style as the weeks go on.  🙂

Some of the supplies I used in addition to my Studio Calico kit were:

I don’t leave a comment, but after looking at a few of the responses here Project Life: Week 1
    – Modern Mommyhood. I do have a couple of questions for you if you don’t
mind. Could it be simply me or does it look
like like a few of the comments appear as if they are coming from brain dead people?
😛 And, if you are writing at additional online sites, I
would like to keep up with everything fresh you have to post.
Could you post a list of all of your social networking sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
