What’s In Store For 2014?

After taking almost a month off (with a few posts thrown in here and there), I’m back!  I felt like I just needed some time to enjoy the holidays without thinking of new posts (I needed some selfish me time along with some family time), so I hope you all can forgive me for not being around much!

Anyway, it’s a new year and it looks like it will be pretty eventful for me and my family!

I’ll start off by telling you that we do not plan on increasing our family size yet…so Mabel will continue to soak up all the attention as an only child for a little while longer.  I’m loving how independent she’s becoming and I have to admit it’s quite nice for me to be able to watch all of her achievements + have a little more flexibility myself!

Holding off on adding another family member is also due to the biggest change will face this year: moving!  My husband is due to be reassigned to another base this summer and we should find out by the end of March where we’ll be heading.  I am beyond excited to find out where we’ll be moving since Dover just isn’t my cup of tea (the base is small and after coming from a base in Colorado Springs, I just don’t feel like the town of Dover has a lot of family activities).  We could end up in a handful of places in the United States with the possibility of moving abroad too…but I would prefer to stay in the U.S. due to it just being easier to see family.

With moving comes the stress of having to get our house ready to sell or rent.  We are trying to decide what the best option would be…I would prefer to sell it but the thought of having to live in a ‘show ready’ house and potential buyers swinging by whenever is going to drive me absolutely nuts.  How do you have a pristine looking house with a toddler?  Lol!  Anyway, it’s just one more thing to complicate moving when it’s already a crazy enough time.  Also, when you PCS (Permanent Change of Station) with the military they send packers to your house to pack up all your items for you.  It might sound nice to some but I’m a total control freak (yep, I said it) and strangers going through my stuff causes some anxiety (I had items stolen during one move which I’m still mad about).

I think I’ll be able to relax a little when we know officially what base we’ll be headed to and the exact dates…but I’m sure my brain will still be going at full speed.  Some of you have to know what I’m talking about…if I can’t plan ahead or there are unknowns, I’m left constantly thinking about things until I have a definitive answer.

Despite the hassles of the actual move itself, I’m really excited to see where we’ll end up next!  And I’ll let you all know as soon as we find out.  🙂

Well we’ll still be here when they get here. 🙂 Is he Air Force? They might like it here…I think my vision is skewed since I grew up an hour from here and I wanted to explore the US rather than come back home, lol!
