Rain, Rain, Go Away!

You may have seen in the news over the past few days about the crazy amount of rain and flooding in South Carolina…

Well our little town of Sumter has been right in the middle of it.  Our neighborhood had a little bit of flooding but not too much since we’re a tad higher up than other parts of the town.  The photo above was our backyard yesterday and was under about 5-6 inches of rain.  I’m thankful it wasn’t bad for our family.

But parts of our town weren’t so luckyWe got about 14 inches of rain in 2 and a half days and it’s still raining today.  Roads have collapsed, people are without power, we’re all having to boil our water before drinking, a county curfew has been set in place for the past two days, schools are closed, and people in neighboring towns have lost their lives.

You can see photos on our town’s Facebook page here.

I personally haven’t seen any of the damage since we’re listening to the Sheriff’s recommendations of staying at home…it’s just not worth it to venture out yet.  But I’m hoping tomorrow will be better since we do need some groceries.

So as everyone in South Carolina begins the cleanup process, please send some positive thoughts and prayers to those who were severely affected.
