Giving Younique a Try

First off…I AM NOT A PRESENTER but Younique did send some products my way for some honest opinions.  😉

If you’ve been reading the blog lately, you’ll know that I’ve been back dabbling in the world of makeup.  So when Younique reached out and asked if I wanted to try some of their products out, I figured why not?  To be completely honestly, I’ve heard mixed reviews and I was excited to get my hands on the products to find out how I truly felt about them.

Let me start off with my favorite products:  the Moodstruck Addiction Palettes 1 and 2.

Younique Moodstruck Addiction Palettes

I’m normally a very neutral color makeup loving gal…so these colors made me happy.  Both palettes had a mix of matte and shimmery colors which is great for days when I want to be as natural as possible AND for days when I want to add a bit more drama to my look.

Palette 1:

A gorgeous combination of neutral nudes, tans and browns.  I found that the colors blended extremely well and the colors were nicely pigmented.  I was able to create a bunch of fun eye looks and even used the darker colors to line my lower lash line!

Here are the swatches:

Colors left to right: zealous, forthright, swanky, chipper, brassy, sincere, elated (hard to see).

Palette 2:

Palette 2 is full of gorgeous dark and cool colors…great for a smoky look.  Just as I described Palette 1, these color were once again nicely pigmented and blended well.  I really liked how smoothly they went onto my eyelid and lasted all day without creasing (but FYI, I always wear eyelid primer before applying shadow on).

Left to right:  peppy, perplexed, cocky, blissful, honorable, romantic, hopeless.

Both palettes are cruelty free and vegan friendly.  🙂

Moving on…

Next up are the lip stains I received…Stiff Upper Lip Lip Stain.

Younique Stiff Upper Lip

From left to right:  shy, sultry, savvy.

Normally, I’m not a lip product person.  I always get it smeared or kiss it off on my children and no one wants that.  After trying these lip stains though, I was impressed with their staying power.  The colors were a tad much on me though…I’m so pale that super bright or dark colors like the 3 I received were pretty bold.  But after using them over the past month, I found that I could go lighter on the application and the color wasn’t so intense.  I also put a coat of clear or neutral gloss over it to get yet another look out of it + add a bit of moisture.

Moodstruck Precision Eye Liners were next…

Younique Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eye Liner

I really liked these liners due to the fact that they glided onto my eyelid very smoothly with absolutely no tugging.  There are a total of 10 colors in all but the three I received were (from left to right) perfect, prim, and passionate.  The colors, especially the black (perfect) were easily smoked out to obtain a more dramatic look.

Here are the swatches of those three:

Another pro that I found from these liners is that they stayed in place.  Once they had set, I was able to rub my fingers over the swatches over and over again with no transfer.  Because who wants their liner to move?  Not me!

Switching over from makeup, I’m going to talk about Refreshed Rose Water:

Younique Refreshed Rose Water

Rose Water has multiple purposes but for me, it worked best as a revitalizer.  Basically, after I had washed my face, I applied some spritzes.  I enjoyed the cooling feeling and the light rose scent.  It dried smoothly and didn’t leave any residue behind.

And finally…I’m going to talk about Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+:

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

I have friends who absolutely love this stuff and then others who just weren’t fans.  I went into it with an open mind since fuller and longer lashes are something I’ve always wanted.  You’ll see in the photo above that the lashes are a two step routine.  Basically apply the Transplanting Gel (on the left), and then immediately apply a layer of Fibers (tube on the right) over the gel.  Finally take the Transplanting Gel and coat again, sealing on the fibers.  You can continue to do those two steps until you get the look you desire.

Fiber wand.

After a month of trying to get this stuff to work for me, I’m sad to say that it’s just not for me.  My lashes were almost always too thick due to too many fibers coming off the wand.  Now, I know a lot of ladies love the super full look these lashes give so it’s all personal preference.  The one way I was able to get them to slightly work for me was to just add fibers to the very tips of my lashes.  I didn’t have any fallout of fibers though…so everything did stay in place all day.

Want to try out those gorgeous eye shadow palettes, liners or anything else I talked about in this post?  Find the products HERE.

Are there any Younique products that you love and think I should try out?  Let me know in the comments! (If you are a presenter, feel free to leave a comment but I am not currently allowing links to personal sales pages).

Love your review! I only have their mascara and I like it. I don’t love it but I do love the way they make my eyes look (if I can get it on just right). However, I notice throughout the day (or evening when I usually wear it) I will start seeing a lot of “flakes” or fibers under my eyes. Which is a big no no lol, because then I just look like I have raccoon eyes.
