A Busy, Hectic and Imperfectly Beautiful Day

Lately, my days been imperfectly beautiful.

With a three year old and a four month old, I’ve had to let go of trying to obtain perfection and embrace the fact that life has a mind of its own.

I wake up, make breakfast (cereal is as good as it gets lately…I know, not mother of year material, lol!), normally end up covered in drool or spit-up within the first 30 minutes of my day, clean up spills from the three year old, spend some time playing on the floor with the kids, make lunch and then it’s nap time for the kids (but the baby tends to have a mind of her own when it comes to sleep).

Notice how the 3 year old is on the play-mat where the baby should be AND she’s sneaking a pacifier that she so cleverly stole from Millie. -_-

Then I realize it’s 1pm and I’m still in my pjs, my hair is disheveled, my skin is a mess and haven’t done anything for myself that day.  Hey, being a mom can’t always be glamorous, lol!  With time ticking away into the three year old’s nap, I rush to change into yoga pants and a t-shirt (it’s a tad of an upgrade from pjs, right?), throw my hair up into a topknot, and splash some water onto my face, finally topping off my skin with AVEENO® ULTRA-CALMING® DAILY MOISTURIZER BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 15.  I’ve been dealing with redness since Millie’s birth and this is the only day lotion that has helped to reduce it.  Plus, it’s light enough for the summer and isn’t heavy at all for my sensitive skin.  Finally, a little bit of pampering for myself that’s quick enough to enjoy during my busy and full day.

Then the baby starts crying.
Me time is done.

Back to my day: tummy time with the baby, three year old wakes up, spend some time with both of the girls in the backyard (thank goodness there is SPF in my moisturizer because I certainly don’t want skin damage!), the three year old cries over wanting ice cream (come on, you can’t have ice cream before dinner), some down time watching a movie and then my husband arrives home.  Thankfully another adult to help with parenting!

Then of course there’s dinner, bedtime for the kiddos and then some quiet reflection time for myself.

Though my life can be hectic and far from perfect, I realize those simple daily moments are what’s beautiful.  You live, you learn, you love…and it’s those imperfections that make every day such a wonderful journey.

The answer to your question…YES. Yoga pants and a T shirt are not just a tad upgrade its day time attire. I now have an almost 4 year old, almost 2 year old and am 8 months pregnant…ahhh It was nice to relate to another adult and have a moment. Keep on truckn’ and thanks for the skin tips I’m feeling a little blotchy myself.
