Chicco NextFit Zip Review and Car Seat Safety

A handful of you all might remember this instagram post from our road trip to Texas back in September:

We had just switched Millie’s car seat from a removable infant seat to Chicco’s NextFit (Amazon currently has them for 20% off with code CHICCODEC at checkout…which is an amazing price!) and we fell immediately in love with how easy it was to install.  I had wanted to make sure that we were all set to go for our long road trip and I felt pretty secure with the high safety ratings this seat has.  🙂

Well…a few weeks after we got back from our trip, Chicco reached out and asked if I would be interested in posting about car seat safety…of course!  I feel very passionate about car seat safety, making sure kiddos of all ages are bucked in correctly and I’ll do anything to help pass on safety/installation information to fellow parents!

First off…I can’t profess my love enough for the NextFit (this started in September when we purchased ours out of our own pocket!).  A few months later, Chicco then sent over the NextFit Zip (20% off too on Amazon with code CHICCODEC) for us to try out.

It’s pretty much the exact same as our original NextFit but the Zip has a few extras that are pretty sweet.  The actual cover zips off for easy cleaning (this is wonderful and any parent of a messy kiddo will understand where I’m coming from!) and the lower belt/clips on this version stay open, which means when you put your kiddo in the seat, there’s no digging underneath them to try to pull the strap out if they ended up sitting on it.  A nice perk too.  There is also a cup holder that isn’t pictured.

Both the NextFit and the NextFit Zip have a breathable fabric, padded harness straps (which I like since they don’t dig into Millie’s neck), and lots of secure protection around her head.  The straps are very easy to adjust as your child grows and the seats are ridiculously easy to install!

My husband had the seat installed in a few minutes and was locking the seat belt down in this photo.  His currently SUV doesn’t have a LATCH system so we have to rely on car seats that secure using the seat belt.  We’ve actually had several brands and honestly, Chicco has been the easiest to secure this way!

Easy install…and a happy + safe and secure baby who is rear facing and ready to travel for the holidays!

Chicco NextFit Zip - Car Seat Safety Facts

And speaking of the holidays, with everyone on the roads traveling to see family, it’s always best to brush up on your car seat safety, PLUS check to make sure your little one’s car seat is installed correctly!  First of all…make sure your little one is in the right type of seat for his/her age:

Travel safe this holiday season and make sure those kiddos are buckled in safely too!  And please feel free to share this post with any other parents or soon to be parents…if I can help just one mom or dad travel safer with their children, I’ll be happy!

I received a PR sample from Chicco as a thank you for this post.  No other form of compensation was received…and we were a Chicco fan before Chicco even reached out.  😉

That looks like such a fabulous carseat! My guys are old enough one is in a booster and one is big enough for the seatbelt-only, but I will definitely pass this along to my sisters’ in-law!
