The Diaper Houdini and Nascar

May 29, 2014

My morning went a little something like this yesterday…

I poked my head into Mabel’s room to say good morning when I was immediately hit with the strong smell of pee…this wasn’t going to be good.

She’s started this new phase of liking to be in nothing but her diaper and over the past few nights she’s become the master of escaping any pajamas you put her in.  Watching her shimmy out of jammies on the baby monitor kind of reminds me of watching Houdini wiggle out of a straightjacket and chains…she’s successful every time.

Footie pjs with a zipperno match for her.
T-shirt and pantseasy peasy.

So I guess I should have expected what I was about to stumble upon.

Me:  Good morning Mabel!  It smells like pee-pee in here….
Mabel:  Hi!  *whips of her blanket to reveal her diaper has been taken off*  Here!  *hands me her super dry diaper with a big smile on her face*
Me:  That explains it all…

She must have taken off her diaper shortly after going to bed since it wasn’t used…and from the looks of it, she must have drank a ton of water before bed.

And of course Hubs was at work…so guess who got to tackle all that?  Me.

Mabel got a bath first thing in the AM and I got to do a full load of laundry…

Anyway…I welcome any solutions from you mommas who have had experience with similar situations…leave me a comment pretty please.  😉

On another note…Nascar is in town this weekend to race at Dover International Speedway.

And since my husband is volunteering he had to go to a training seminar yesterday at the infield…and they let him drive his suv on the track!

Not gonna lie…I’m pretty jealous about this and that I wasn’t there.

He said it was pretty awesome…yeah, way to rub it in while I was at home cleaning urine soaked bedding.  But in all seriousness, I was happy that he got to do something so neat.  Sure he wasn’t driving 100+ mph (more like a super slow speed, lol!) but who gets to drive their own vehicle on an actual Nascar track?

Okay, who’s got some advice for me on the whole escaping diapers during the night?

Zipper pjs (the ones with no feet) put on backwards. That way she can’t reach the zipper! 🙂

I just had several mothers tell me the same thing on FB. 🙂 Sounds like an idea that I’ll try…and I might just snip the feet off of her footie pjs and hem them. Thank you!

Our babysitter also taught us you can put the diaper on backwards too!

I had never though of that! We’ll have to try that out. 🙂 Right now, we’ve stuck pullups on her when she sleeps and those have been harder for her to wiggle out of. 🙂
