Mommy Things That I’m Not Ashamed Of

Okay, so it took a bit of time for me to become more comfortable with myself and my body and oddly enough it was motherhood that has transformed me.  One would think that you’d be more self conscious after giving birth, and yep, you hear a ton of people who don’t have babies saying ‘I don’t want to be blown out (yeah, as incorrect as that is cause it doesn’t happen)’ or ‘I don’t want my body to change’.  And maybe I used to think like that too…but now I have this:

And I realize that I had no idea what I was talking about before.  Not to mention, I was probably a little selfish too.  There’s nothing like mommyhood to make you more humble and accepting…of everything!

Anyway, here’s my list of Mommy Things That I’m Not Ashamed Of:

  • Being so tired that I fell asleep on a pillow that had dried baby spit up all over it
  • Breastfeeding in public…I haven’t had the chance to yet, but will do it when needed!  🙂
  • Yelling to my husband ‘Did you get the butt paste’ (meaning diaper rash cream) through a crowd of strangers in Target
  • Spilling weekly mommy events, even TMI mommy issues on YouTube
  • Hardly having any time to wear makeup anymore
  • Not getting a shower for two days because the baby needs me
  • Sitting in front of the tv topless, watching Wheel of Fortune, and pumping (haha…can I buy a vowel?)
  • Leaking through shirts with two round milk stains
  • The fact that I’m almost 2 months postpartum and I’m still wearing maternity clothes
  • The bottle of Mederma:  Stretch Mark therapy that sits proudly on my vanity
  • Spilling a whole pump full of breast milk all over the carpet at 3am since I tripped over my own feet
  • I’m a tiny bit more ‘crunchy’ since I became a mom (mommyhood makes you think differently)
  • Admitting that my fingers are still too swollen to wear my wedding band.  I tried the other day and the ring was stuck for 2 days and it hurt like heck to get it off:
I’m sure there are more things…but I can’t think of them this moment.  But they’ll get posted if I do!  🙂

I laughed out loud at some of these…and nodded in agreement! My little girl, Kinley, was born on 2/24/12! Anyway, I was wondering if Mabel prefers the swing in the pic on this post vs the Starlight Papasan one that you have? We have the My Little Lamb Papasan swing but this one looks like it might fit a newborn better???

    Hi Morgan,

Have been watching your youtube channel and following your blog 🙂 Great work!

I started window shopping for my baby (due Dec 1). Was wondering what is the brand/model of the bouncer you have in that picture? And how long will it last until the baby out grows it?

Yeah, my son is almost two and I still can’t wear my wedding rings. I could wear them until I was 235 lbs (about 5 months pregnant). I am now down to 195 lbs and they still don’t fit. I’m thinking of going to a doctor to have my fingers looked at. I should be able to wear them after losing 40 lbs.
