My Pregnancy Reading List

I’m quickly realizing that time is running out before Mabel makes her arrival so I need to start reading!  I’m a big reader so when I first found out I was pregnant I bought tons of books.  I took suggestions from friends, my midwives, and online and these are the books I’m currently reading or will be reading over the next few days/weeks:
Pregnancy Book List - reading for preparing for labor and baby
*Just a heads up – most of the books that are related to the birth process on my list are aimed towards women who are having a mid-wife run/natural birth at a birth center or in your home.  Even if you are giving birth in a hospital, I think there are good bits of info throughout the books though*
Here is the typed up list in-case you’re curious or want to read some of them yourselves (if you click the book title, the link will take you to Amazon.com for all the book information):
Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields – I LOVE THIS BOOK.  I’ve posted about it before but I can’t stop talking about it.  The book is the ultimate review book on everything baby related.  They give letter grades to companies on just about every baby item you can imagine….from car seats, to bottles, to diapers to baby food and more!  It has been worth every penny!
Painless Childbirth by Giuditta Tornetta – I haven’t read this one yet…but it got good reviews on Amazon.com.  I figured I would read anything I could get my hands on to help reduce my pain during labor.
Active Birth by Janet Balaskas –  Another book that I have yet to read but plan on starting it soon.  It comes highly recommended from my birth center.
Adventures in Natural Childbirth by Janet Schwegel – This is another book that I have really enjoyed reading.  If you are planning a natural childbirth, you need to buy this book.  There are real birth stories from women and they range from all the types of natural childbirth you can have:  natural birth with a midwife, natural birth with a doula, natural birth with a physician (see, I’m looking out for you ladies who want to have a natural birth at the hospital too!), and unassisted natural childbirth.
HypnoBirthing The Mongan Method by Marie Mongan – Haven’t read but have heard good things about it.  Another book that was recommended by my birth center.
The Sleep Easy Solution by Jennifer Waldburger and Jill Spivac – this book was recommended by a friend who has a little girl.  She said it worked miracles with getting her daughter to sleep and making it an easy process.
Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin – I can’t say enough good things about Ina May and this book is wonderful too!  It has lots of natural childbirth stories included and all of Ina May’s philosophies on birth.  It has been very insightful!
The Complete Book of Breastfeeding by Olds, Marks, and Eiger – Haven’t read but I need to start soon.  I plan on breastfeeding and want to know as much as possible before I start.
What to Expect When You’re Expecting by Murkoff – Need I say more?  I think every pregnant woman has or should have this book!  It answers any questions you could possibly have while pregnant.
Do you have any books you love or swear by?  I’d love the suggestions!  Leave a comment or post of the Modern Mommyhood Facebook page!  🙂
