It’s officially 2014 and I’m going to be embarking on something new this year: Project Life!
And I have to thank my friend Haley for this new addiction…
What is Project Life? Basically it’s a simplified version of scrapbooking…but it can be as creative and involved as you’d like it to be! Also, there are no rules…so your Project Life will look completely different than someone else’s. All you need is a binder, some photo pocket pages, photos and maybe a few embellishments to get started.
I’ll be doing a two page spread every week and I’m pretty excited to start capturing the daily events of our lives…I just wish I would have started this when Mabel was born.
Let me show you what I’ll be working with right off the bat:
I bought two Project Life Faux Leather binders in the color Rain…it’s kind of like a sea foam/aqua color = love! My binder came with a few photo pocket pages which was a nice bonus. If you aren’t into the look of this binder there are a bunch of different ones out there and a bunch of companies that make them.
Now for what goes inside the binders (the fun part!)…I subscribed a few months ago to Studio Calico’s Project Life monthly kits (that’s a referral link but if you sign up under it you will get extra bonus points too!) and they are awesome. Each month is a different theme and have a nice variety of cards and embellishments (including stamps and washi tape!).
More embellishments that I purchased. Seriously, how cute are the wood veneer cameras?!
A few of my alphabet stickers that I’ll use to caption my photos.
Some fun paper pads to use as backgrounds on my photos and pages.
There are tons of varieties of paper pads…I like buying the 6×6 size since they are more geared towards smaller projects/Project Life and not as big as traditional scrapbook papers.
More Project Life boxes from Studio Calico and my dreamy typewriter…well the box isn’t dreamy but I’m going to follow up this post with more photos of the actual fire engine red typewriter. 🙂
My new Silhouette Cameo…I had been debating buying one of these bad boys for a while now but finally decided to purchase is when the price took a huge nosedive on Black Friday (thank goodness!). And can you tell I still haven’t used it yet? I know…I’m horrible…I’ve just been super busy since it arrived.
And finally my Canon Pixma…this was a late birthday gift. I plan on printing most of my photos at home since I’m just too lazy to get to the printer once a week.
As of right now I don’t have any photos of completed pages to show you since I haven’t started but if you want to see some amazing examples that others have completed check out my Project Life Pinterest Board:
I’m pretty excited to start and will be sharing my layouts/pages with you as I go…so expect the first layout next week. 😉
Are you already doing Project Life? Have any tips for me? Not doing Project Life and have any questions? I can try to answer them!
Great post and a great explanation! Can’t wait to project life this year!
Paula, I can’t wait to see your pages! 🙂
I’m doing Project Life this year too! I am SO excited, and as I was wandering the Project Life aisle at Hobby Lobby, I felt like I was starting something that is going to be very, very addicting!
Super excited to see your layouts! :o)
First year doing PL for me… So stoked! LOVE your embellishments! Do you remember where you got the mint letters? Are they foam? Can you give me more deers!
Thanks 🙂
I can’t wait to see your Project Life at the end of the year. I’m sure it will turn out great.
