Where Does The Time Go?

Honestly, if you would have told me how fast time goes by when Mabel was just born, I would have told you ‘yeah right!’  Being the sleep deprived and exhausted mommy of a newborn, time feels like it’s at a standstill.

And I think I took it for granted.  I tried my hardest to savor every moment of her littleness, but I still don’t think I had enough time.

Mabel is 6 months old today..and not so much a newborn anymore.  Well, she’s still a baby…but not my super tiny newborn.  No more super tiny clothes and no more crunching up into a ball when you pick her up from a nap.  Yep, I say this with watery eyes.  My baby is growing up.

Can I tell time to slow down?  Guess it doesn’t work that way.

But don’t get me wrong, I love seeing everyday how she learns something new.

I love seeing how she views the world and everything in it for the first time.

How she figures out how her body moves.  The looks on her face when she tries new food.  How she gets excited when her Daddy comes home from work.  Those giggles when she watches our pugs run around the living room.  How her eyelids fall slowly when she’s falling asleep. Those puzzled looks she gives at new toys…you know, the kinds of looks where you know the wheels are turning in her brain as she’s trying to figure something out.  The smiles she gives when she sees me every morning after waking up.  Those. are. the. best!

I’m loving every minute.  And though I don’t want her to grow up so quickly…I can’t wait to see the girl and woman that she will become.

Mabel, if you are reading this in the future…I LOVE YOU!

OMG this made me cry! What a sweet moment. I am also a first time mom of a 4 month old girl and I feel the same way. Its cool to know your daughter will be able to look back on your blog when she gets older! My husband opened an email account for our daughter and has been sending her emails and pics and videos since she was born. We hope to keep doing it and give it to her when she turns 18, it sure will be cool to look back on. Happy 6 month birthday Mabel!
