The Last Day of Not Knowing

There will always continue to be some unknowns but I’m talking about Baby #2’s gender today.

This is the last day of not knowing…

is it a boy or girl: week 17 18 ultrasound
This was Mabel’s ultrasound from 18 weeks.

Boy or Girl that is the question!

We had planned on waiting until the end of this month during our anatomy scan to find out the gender but it just so happens that one of the elective ultrasound places decided to open up a second location in our town.  With special prices for their grand opening…I let curiosity get the best of me.  🙂

Are we hoping for one gender over the other?  Of course we want a healthy baby over everything else but honestly, either gender will be fine with us.

This is how I see it:  A girl would be wonderful since I would love to see a tight sisterly bond grow with Mabel and this little baby.  And it would be a big plus that since this baby will be born the same time of year Mabel was, all of Mabel’s clothes would be able to be used again.  A boy would be great since we haven’t gotten the chance to raise a boy yet…we’d get to see the flip side of the coin!

What’s the first thing we’re going to do after finding out?  Probably call our parents and let them know.  🙂  No gender party or big reveal here…things are a tad different the second time around, lol!  The very next thing I’m going to do = buy fabric and start working on crib bedding!  If you remember, I made Mabel’s bedding (you can see her nursery/bedding from our old house here).  I plan on making this baby’s bedding too since I enjoy being able to customize everything and not be limited to what’s in the store.  I also have to start sewing Mabel’s toddler room bedding so I want to get it done as soon as possible…the bigger I get, the more miserable it is to sit at the sewing machine!

Oh and then we’ll start working on a name!  We really haven’t talked about it much since I just figured we’d wait until we knew the gender.  There’s no point in stressing over a girl’s name if it’s a boy or vice versa!  All I know is that the name will go with Mabel’s and will probably be an older/antique name whether it’s a boy or girl.

I know I already submitted my “boy” vote, but I had to share this pin with you! I came across it when you were pregnant with Mabel before you knew the gender and immediately sent it to Matt with the caption “If [your hubby] has a son…”. For some reason I think it looks like a mini version of him! Either way I know it will be a very precious and very loved baby, and I’m sure Mabel will be the cutest big sister. We’ll be thinking about yall this weekend!!
