Homemade Crib Bedding and Button Letters – Etsy Eat Your Heart Out!

I finally got around to hanging Mabel’s button letters for her name and then putting all the crib bedding on!  I’m posting some pics for you all since my ‘nursery tour’ video has been delayed due to one last piece of furniture not being here yet.  Take a look:
Button Letters, Fitted Sheet, and Ruffled Crib Skirt all made by me!
I will post a better pic later with better lighting.
*Want to make the button letters that I did for Mabel’s name?  Click here for the nursery artwork tutorial!

There are no plans to make a crib bumper due to recent recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics that no bumpers be placed inside a crib.

And here are the extra fitted sheets I made (plus the boys thought they were helping out by modeling).

Changing Pad Cover
Changing Pad Cover – I still have 2 more to make.
Normally if you were to buy all of this stuff, it would be super expensive.  Crib bedding sets go for around $400 on Etsy…and I’m glad that I decided to tackle this on my own…plus it makes me feel pretty good that I created unique things for our little girl.
FYI – Bedding was created from Pat Bravo’s Bazaar Style fabric collection.  Which I LOVE!  I plan on making a matching quilt out of the rest of the material.  I will post pictures when I get it finished.  🙂

Just curious – on the website on the buttons, did you buy the "bulk" pack of buttons? How many packs would you recommend per letter?

  4. Modern Momma says:

Candice – I'm not sure exactly how many brads/buttons per letter. I know that I bought too many, lol! If you go onto the site that I mentioned, and buy the 'button bonanza' packs from Buttons Galore (it's a great variety of sizes and button variations), you should have enough for several letters. It's hard for me to say only because I had several different colors rather than staying with the same color for all the letters. How many letters are you planning on doing? That might help me give you a better idea…sorry I'm not a ton of help. 🙁

It's okay! I'm thinking about doing my daughter on the way's name..Audrey…but I can't find blank art canvas' either! We don't have a Hobby Lobby around, but I looked online at michaels and I can't find them on there either! I couldn't find the yellow color or blueish color you used in your letters in the buttons on that website, or maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place!

Candice…I'll sit down tonight and see what I can find for you online tonight and post it on here for you tomorrow. I know I've seen canvas on one of the sites I use, so I'll get some links together for you. And as for the yellow and blueish colors…are you talking about buttons or brads? I'll find the exact packs that I used and let you know what the names are. 🙂

You did a great job Morgan! I absolutely love your nursery, and I'm sure baby Mabel will love it too. I love your blog, thanks for your insight and advice, it has helped me a lot as my husband and I are TTC. I came across your blog a few weeks ago through one of your youtube videos and it took me at least a week to get all caught up on reading your entries 🙂 Hope everything goes well with your birth, won't be long now!:D
