The perfect scrap and fat quarter friendly star quilt pattern: Irish Stars!

Hands down, Irish Stars is one of my favorite quilt patterns that I’ve written to date! I mean, I love them all but there will be favorites. Especially those star quilts! I can’t get enough of them.
If you’ve followed me for awhile, you’ll know traditional piecing with a modern flare is what I really love to create…and Irish Stars is both classic AND modern inspired.

The Irish Stars pictured above is in the Trinketry collection by Melody Miller for Ruby Star Society and it looks fabulous, doesn’t it?! I used the black w/hearts print for the ‘chain edge’ and it really makes the colors POP!
The quilt pattern comes in 5 sizes so it’s got you covered for whatever size quilt you might need; baby/child, throw, twin, queen and king! It’s also BOTH fat quarter and scrap friendly. You’ll find a scrap breakdown within the pattern that will help you bust your collection of scraps.
If you’re wanting a more classic look than the first version, let me show you my vintage looking Irish Stars:

I used about 29 different floral and gingham prints in this one…and I can’t get enough of it! It looks exactly like vintage quilts you find in antique shops. The background is a solid ivory cream and the ‘chain edge’ is a chambray with tiny little white dots that don’t really show up in the photos.

I will apologize for the fact that I didn’t get any pretty outdoors photos of these quilts…it’s been really cold here in Virginia and we’ve had 6″ of solid ice snow that hasn’t melted in almost 2 weeks. I’ve almost slipped and fallen the times I’ve been out in our yard, so no quilty pics were able to be taken. I promise…I will get some as soon as it warms up a tad.

The Irish Stars quilt pattern is perfect for confident/advanced beginners and up! It’s a great pattern to be able to perfect your half square triangles and seam alignment.
I promise you that this is a pattern you’ll want to make more than once…it looks stunning in any combination of prints or solids. If you want proof that this pattern is super versatile, I’ve got more to Irish Stars mockups to show you:
