Mabel’s First Fourth of July

Mabel was decked out in her Flap Happy Hat and Swimsuit

This past Wednesday we celebrated the 4th of July and it was Mabel’s first!  We had planned a quiet day of family time and fun.  We would have loved the chance to celebrate with more of our family, but as most of you know, we are a military family and do not have a lot of relatives nearby.

With the temperature soaring in the Mid-Atlantic, we figured that it would be a great opportunity to get Mabel dressed up in a swimsuit for the very first time along with her matching, adorable floppy hat!  If you’re curious, her outfit is from Flap Happy and you can read my original review here.

So out came the little blow-up pool that I bought (after getting plenty dizzy from trying to blow up the darn thing by my mouth!).  Note to self:  get a pump next time.  Her pool has a little shaded dome that covers the top and it’s in the shape of a penguin.  Just way too cute!

We gently sat her down in the water and she looked confused.  But then seemed to relax and enjoy herself a little bit, safely held in her daddy’s arms.

I totally took advantage of the photo opportunity.  She made it a tad difficult…so I did the best I could.  I just love her blue eyes!

After about 15 minutes she had enough and escaped into my husband’s arms.  Yep, she’s a daddy’s girl.

So, did we make it out to a parade or go see fireworks?  Nope, not this year.  It was too hot to want to brave the crowd and Mabel was all tuckered out and in bed by 7:30pm.

Maybe next year.

But I think our little family 4th of July was a perfect day.

Your baby is ABSOLUTELY adorable! Her hair and eyes and just stunning! She is SO cute!

And, I can’t believe you blew up the whole pool! I tried a couple weeks ago, but after about ten minutes I was knocking on my neighbor’s door asking if they had one I could borrow…

      Thank you! 🙂

Yeah…I won’t be blowing that thing up again on my own. It took too long but I was determined to have the thing blown up and my husband wasn’t as motivated I was, lol!
