My Birthday In A Nutshell

This is how I spent the majority of my birthday…watching this little gal:

I had her dressed up in her little Santa onesie and she looked like a little elf.  😉  This was my first birthday as a mom so it’s safe to say this was the first birthday I’ve spent caring/looking after someone other than myself.  Instead of thinking about presents, cake, and going out to dinner (which would have been a priority on previous birthdays) I spent my day with someone who thought I looked better with a dash of pureed carrots all over my pants which she purposely reached over from her highchair to rub all over my leggings.  Gotta love it.

My husband told me that plans were up to me, whatever I wanted to do…we would do.  Well, I opted not to go out for dinner and wanted to order in.  You’re probably thinking that sounds boring…but to me it’s a slice of heaven.  Lol!  After a long day of watching the baby, the last thing I wanted to do was go out to a busy restaurant and have a bunch of waiters who have no idea who I am come by clapping and singing happy birthday to someone they could care less about.  We got Mabel down for bed and where did I choose to have Hubby get food from?  The always classy Olive Garden…haha!  Yeah, go ahead and laugh because I am too.  I live in the most boring part of Delaware and trust me, there aren’t a lot of dining options.

My birthday cake was exactly what a wanted…Tiramisu.  Totally not traditional but exactly what I wanted!  No candles and no singing.  Awesome.

And if you’re following on Instagram you’ll have already seen this pic:

‘Uh, you mean this should be wrapped?”

My presents weren’t wrapped…and one isn’t even at the house yet, lol!  My husband ordered me a classic Tempurpedic memory foam pillow and broke it out in-front of me a few nights before my birthday.  I’m not complaining since he let me start using it right away and I’m in LOVE.  These have been the first mornings in months that I’ve woken up without a sore neck and I swear I’ve been sleeping better than I have in months just because of this pillow.  You know you’re getting older when you want a pillow for your birthday.

My other gift that wasn’t here yet…still in the mail somewhere:

Frye Paige Tall Riding Boot

He bought me the Antiqued Tan color and I hope they fit since I think they will look adorable with leggings and skinny jeans!  My husband is awesome.  I’ll post pics when they show up.

This might have been an uneventful birthday and boring to some…but it’s exactly what I wanted and I was happy.  That’s all that matters, right?!  🙂  A day spent with my daughter (carrot puree and all), a quiet night with takeout and the hubby, and a memory foam pillow to sleep on that night…I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
