Oh, Hello Sandy!

Yeah, I totally stole this from The Weather Channel’s site and added my own info.

I figured it might be beneficial to do a quick post just in case you all don’t hear from me for a couple of days…it’ll probably be due to me not having power and not being able to get online.  We’re supposed to start feeling the effects of the storm tomorrow and then it is supposed to make landfall on Monday.  And they are saying to expect power outages for several days possibly up to 7-10 days (what?!).

Anyway, I put a little arrow on the map where I live just to show you all I’m going to be in the middle of this mess.  I’m not really freaked out…and I think the news has hyped this way out of proportion.  BUT I guess it’s always better to be safe than sorry.  And no, we’re not evacuating. I think it’s just best to stay where we are and ride the storm out.  I’m not really worried by the storm itself, just the fact that we have a ton of huge trees in our backyard and I’d prefer not to have a new sky light created if one of them were to fall onto/into my house.  🙁

In preparation, Hubby bought a ton of bottled water, we brought everything from outside into our garage so that it won’t blow away or become a projectile in the wind, we’re charging our flashlights, and we have some food that is non-perishable.  Also, we’ve filled our tub with water so that there is water to be used to flush toilets in case we are without power for a long time.

Losing power is the pits!  You realize how much you take for granted every day…and I’m just thankful it’s not the middle of summer or the middle of winter when it’s extremely hot or cold.  So, at least I don’t have to worry about not having AC or heat.  And without power there is no running water, which means no showers…yuck.

Okay, so wish me luck and hopefully we won’t lose power for any crazy length of time.  And to all of you who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy…stay safe!
