Our Anniversary In DC – Part 1

Last Tuesday was Hubby’s and my 2nd anniversary It’s pretty insane how fast two years can go by!

We were lucky enough that my in-laws happened to be visiting at the same time, so they offered to watch Mabel while we took a mini trip to Washington DC to celebrate.  We haven’t been able to have a night out since last November, so we were way overdue.  I know some of you are thinking ‘hire a babysitter already‘, trust me, I’ve thought about it.  I just haven’t been able to find someone I trust yet.  But that’s another story.

So we got our bags packed, kissed Mabel goodbye and we were off for the 2 hour drive.

I was okay for most of the drive…until we got to the city.

City driving scares the crap out of me and I wasn’t even the one driving.  Nothing is worse than driving into a city that you aren’t familiar with in the dark…and then the icing on the cake:  navigating a roundabout with 7 exits.

With a couple of frayed nerves and my husband telling me to calm down and stop trying to use the imaginary foot break on the passer side, we arrived.

We stayed at The Jefferson and I’m going to tell you I have never ever stayed at a place this nice before.  If you click their link, you’ll see much better photos than the ones I took!

There were doormen who opened our car doors and a valet who took our SUV.  The first thought that went through my head was “The valet is going to think our car is a mess!”…haha!  One of the doormen took our luggage and the other with white gloves opened the main doors for us.  Um, wow.

I suddenly felt severely under-dressed in my jeans and shirt compared to the staff in fancy suits.

We then checked in and then got to our room:

The Jefferson DC
Matching robes laid out on our bed.
The Jefferson DC room
Another view.
The Jefferson DC bathroom
This bathroom was amazing…there was no tub, but it was just gorgeous.
The Jefferson DC bose
And then nothing says classy like a Bose sound system with classical music playing when we arrived. 😉

And then some of you might have seen on Facebook or Instagram how excited I was about this last little gem:

bathroom tv
Yep, a tv in the mirror!

Once settled in the concierge helped us secure reservations at a local restaurant and our little anniversary trip had begun.  🙂

Listen, don’t feel bad — driving in DC just absolutely SUCKS, whether you’re the passenger or behind the wheel. It looks like you had a wonderful time. Hard to believe it’s already been two years. Happy anniversary, guys!

How fun! And don’t feel bad – my girl is almost 4 and we have never hired a babysitter. Always family members. I think she is just too young! Or maybe I don’t trust people I don’t know!! Hahaha!! Can’t wait to see part 2!
