The other week I mentioned that Hubby and would be working with The Home Depot and receiving items to help enhance our yard; and trust me, all opinions and thoughts are 100% mine! Well, we got our DIY project assignment: an edible container garden! Woo hoo…I’m pretty darn excited!
If you don’t know what an edible container garden is, it’s pretty simple! Basically it’s just growing veggies or fruits in a small to large container. 😉 Containers can range from a decorative pot to go on your balcony if you live in an apartment or a raised garden bed if you live in a house with a yard.
Hubby and I decided to go with a cedar plank raised garden bed!
Now, we had to decide what we wanted to grow…and since I’m slightly picky, I took over the job or writing up the list!
Um, can you tell that I really want to grow strawberries?!? I’m pretty excited about growing our own fruits and veggies so that I don’t have to buy them in the store. It will save some money and the best part is knowing where our food is coming from: our own back yard!
Then came the decision to figure out where would the best place in the yard be for our new container garden? I found three possible spots to place our raised garden bed.
The first spot was okay, the second spot was too shady, and the third spot at the end of the driveway was just right!
So with all the planning completed it was time to head off to our local Home Depot!
Stay tuned for tomorrow to see how our trip went and to find out how to make your own edible container garden!
