It’s time for Week 3 of Project Life! I feel like I’m constantly playing catch-up since I should be on week 8 or 9…but I have this feeling that I’ll be behind all year long. Oh well! I just have to stick with it since it’ll be an amazing album once the year is done…I keep thinking what a great keepsake it will be for Mabel when she’s older. 🙂
Let’s take a closer look…here is the left side of the spread:
The colors that I was trying use throughout the spread this week were red, yellow and green. I think they flowed pretty nicely but there is always room for improvement.
And here is the right side of the layout:
The whole layout and color scheme was inspired by the card in the top left. I actually got it as a note from Studio Calico in my last subscription box because they ran out of something I ordered…if you were to look at the back of the card, there is writing all over it. I’m learning to view anything and everything as something that can be included in my Project Life spreads!
I have mixed feelings about this week’s title card. I absolutely love the background which I created with Studio Calico letter stamps and the see through letters for ‘Week 3’…but on the other hand I think I might have overdone it with the washi tape? I feel like I made it look like present, lol!
This next card is actually one of my favorites!
I started with a plain 4×6 card stock card and played around with some Mister Huey’s paint which was way too much fun! I had never used it before and quickly found out there are tons of techniques out there for it…but this card was from simply spraying overhead with red and gold paints. I topped it off with some gold star rub-ons, an arrow paperclip, mini staples, and some other odds and ends.
Now this was a pretty silly photo…Mabel isn’t a huge cuddler but we try to take advantage of the times that she’s tolerant of it, lol! Anyway, I loved the texture I was able to give with this card. I did a zigzag stitch with my sewing machine to help join the photo to the paper and then some simple alpha stickers and some enamel dots (which I can’t get enough of!)
Even though I really like these card, I felt like they came out too empty…like there wasn’t enough on them but I couldn’t find anything else in my stash that wouldn’t overpower the cards…so it remained simple. The arrow is from this wood veneer pack and this is my date stamp that I use here.
Finally I wanted to talk about this card. It was a basic, plain card that came in my Studio Calico subscription kit but I felt like it needed a little boost! I recently got some ZING gold embossing powder and figured I’d give it a go. I used a basic star stamp and my heat gun (which I’m impressed with so far!) and this is how it turned out. I was thrilled…but I was covered with that gold glitter for the rest of the evening, ha! I’m still finding it all over my craft desk…
Onto Week 4…wish me luck and hopefully it doesn’t take me two weeks to finish like Week 3 did!
Did you post about your Week 3? Leave a link to your post in the comments since I would love to see it!
Great spread! Love the photo of the boy in the big shoes…too cute!
Your pages are so fun and inviting! I really like how you added little bits to the cards to make them your own. And the photo of the little one in big boots is adorable! 🙂
