We’re all about fun in this house and Mabel always loves getting her hands on something new. So rather than going out and buying new toys all the time, we like to get messy and create fun sensory play with basic items everyone has in their homes!
From Snow Dough to Bath Paints, we’ve already made some pretty fun things…so this past weekend we decided to tackle making a two ingredient recipe for super soft play dough!
Super Woman, I mean Mabel, decided she wanted blue dough…and she wanted to wear her Halloween costume from last year. Who am I to say no? 😉
Roll it into a ball…
This dough was a winner in her book.
To make it…all you need is some corn starch and conditioner (as in hair conditioner…and cheap is good!).
Mix together two parts corn starch and 1 part conditioner. What you see in the photos was 2 cups of corn starch and 1 cup of conditioner. AND if your dough is still a little wet after you mix it together…just add in a little more corn starch until it’s the consistency you desire. You can also add food coloring to make it whatever color you (or your little one) would like! One drop goes a lonnng way!
Just as a side note, I recommend this play dough for kids old enough to know not to eat it. I know it’s common sense but I just wanted to put that out there. 😉
I also found that this dough tends to dry out relatively quickly, so if you plan on taking a break while playing, stick it in a ziplock bag to help retain the moisture.
