The Turtle Rescue

You know your day isn’t complete until you’ve saved the life of a turtle…

Cue the Baywatch theme song…”Some people stand in the darkness afraid to step into the light”…
Don’t ask how I know that.

I had noticed a Maryland Terrapin in our driveway earlier in the day trying to decide if she wanted to lay her eggs there or not and then realized later in the day that she was stuck in our pool.

So I called in the A-Team…

My husband wasn’t quite sure what to do since he didn’t want to get in the pool to get her…who wants to get a finger bitten off?

Mabel was taking her nap which I guess was a good thing since she would have freaked if we wouldn’t have let her touch it.

Then came my dad (he was playing farmer that day, hence the fancy duds).  He figured the best way to get the turtle was the pool scooper…I have no clue what it’s actually called.

The poor turtle finally stopped fighting after a few minutes and allowed herself to be scooped out.  And into a little crate she went.

She was a pretty hefty lady.

To help her out, the guys actually took her back to the river on our neighbor’s property.

Success.

The turtle lived to see another day.

Lol, how’s that for an interesting read?

No turtles were harmed during the making of this post.  🙂

Well, you don’t read a story like this every day, so I had to pin it. Kudos to you and your rescue team for a job well done. Cheers, Ardith
