Nowadays if I say “Say Cheese“…this is the smile she gives me.

A big, whole face grin that just exudes happiness. πŸ™‚

A question that I often get from readers is: Why is Mabel missing a tooth?

I explained it once earlier this year but it was easy to miss. Long story short was that one night about a week after Millie was born this past February, Mabel was playing in the tub. She had been kneeling to reach something that had fallen off the ledge of the tub, her knees slipped and she hit her mouth on the side of the tub. She told us she was fine and we didn’t see any damage so our night went on.

The next day she bit into an apple and then told us her tooth hurt…and sure enough it was wiggly. We took her right away to the dentist and after x-rays we were shown that her tooth was fractured up in the gum line. There was no saving the tooth, so it had to be taken out. πŸ™ But her mouth is now fine, she’ll just be sporting a toothless grin for a few more years until her adult teeth start to grow in.

That whole incident brought home the importance of helping Mabel to take care of her teeth. Don’t get me wrong, we were and still are super serious about daily brushing and flossing with her but it was just an eye opener that things can happen unexpectedly. So we do everything we can to take care of those healthy baby teeth that she has and do everything to help teach her how to take care of them herself!

A week ago we brought home the Philips Sonicare Kids Power Toothbrush. We opened the package together and I got her involved right away with personalizing it!

Out of the eight stickers, she found her favorite right away and we got it placed on the power toothbrush.

We let it charge for the rest of the day…and by the time the evening rolled around, Mabel asked to go to bed early because she wanted to use her new toothbrush that bad, lol!

So we got it loaded with toothpaste and it was time to try it out!

She was so excited! The size of the brush head made it easier to reach all of her teeth and I have to say that I really loved the programmable KidTimer (it can be increased up to 2 minutes).

The price itself is a bit more than a non-power toothbrush but with a two-year warranty, you’ll get your money’s worth! Plus I love that it’s rechargeable (it comes with a plugin stand) and you can always change out the stickers on the brush if your kiddo wants to try something new. Last little tidbit…there is a phone app that you can have connected to the toothbrush. You can use it to track and motivate your little one.

A week into use, I’m pretty darn impressed and Mabel still loves to brush her teeth!

Cheers to cleaner teeth and better dentist appointments!
