Scrap Mountains Quilt Pattern

If you need an easy mountain quilt pattern to showcase lots of fun fabrics, Scrap Mountains is the perfect quilt pattern for you!

I started working on the design of the Scrap Mountains pattern earlier this year. I have really loved working with simple shapes to create such a fun and scrappy pattern dedicated to the love of the outdoors. I guess I’m on a bit of a nature kick since the last pattern released was Jelly Trees.

I had rushed to finish my first version of the quilt before we went up to Maine last May. And even though it was a cloudy week for almost all of our visit, I managed to get some decent photos at the cabin we stayed at:

I even had the husband helping out while on vacation, ha!

Once we were back home, I was able to finish it. I decided on 1 1/2″ grid quilting and backed it with flannel.

It’s honestly such a lovely quilt and I’m thrilled with how it turned out since it reminds me of our trip to Acadia National Park every time I look at it!

The quilt pattern includes three size options Child/Lap, Square Throw and Rectangular Throw and is written to use fat quarters. I’ve also included the option of using scraps from your stash if you prefer a super scrappy look! The more options, the better, right?!

If you know me at all, I’m sure you’ll have guessed that I had to make another version in more bold and bright prints. And of course I did! Here it is:

The fabric collection that I used in this version is Mystic Fable by Alexia Marcelle Abegg for Ruby Star Society. It’s stunning! And I really love the vintage feel those prints give this quilt top. I’m just waiting for the collection to make its way to fabric shops so that I can get yardage for the backing in order to finish it. I’m just trying to decide if I want the back it with one of the apple prints or one of the shooting star colorways.

I’ll update you all over on Instagram when it’s finished. I’m thinking I’ll grid quilt it just like the first version since I love how that one turned out.

You can get your own copy of the Scrap Mountains pattern in the shop HERE.
