Meet the Spectra quilt: A star quilt pattern with two options – yardage and scrappy/fq friendly!
I love the color possibilities with this pattern! I originally wrote this pattern to showcase the spectrum of colors (hence the name Spectra) with the new Warp and Weft Hue collection by Alexia Marcelle Abegg for Ruby Star Society. It’s such a gorgeous woven collection with colors that look like a vintage rainbow!
Oh and a random tidbit of information, these photos were the last photos I took of our time in South Korea. Seeing them a few months after our move back the US brings back memories of the high-rise complex we lived in and I have a special place in my heart for this pattern!
The yardage version of the pattern allows for 9 colors/prints of your choosing which frame a classic star. Traditional quilt elements never go out of style!
And if rainbows aren’t your thing, any color combination will do! Check out this citrus colored version of the pattern I whipped up:
The citrus version was created with yellow, orange, green and pink prints from various Ruby Star Society collections. Pictures don’t do it justice as it’s so bright and beautifully vibrant in person!
After writing the yardage version, I came to the conclusion that I needed to include a scrappy fat quarter friendly version as well. I’m pretty sure you all know me by now…I can’t help but love a super scrappy quilt so a scrappy option is a must!
I made this version with mostly Robert Kaufman/Sevenberry fabrics. It’s got a lovely vintage feel to it, doesn’t it? If you’re looking for a similar premade FQ bundle that gives off the same vibe, head over to Morgan Kelly Quilts’ Etsy shop…her bundles are some of the best!
If you’re ready to see the fabric requirements to make your very own Spectra quilt, you can find those and the pattern in the shop HERE.
