We’re Moving – PCS’ing to Mildenhall

All my bags are packed and I’m ready to go…

Well, that couldn’t be further from the truth, lol!  I mean, I’m ready to leave Sumter, SC buuuut totally didn’t see what was coming.  My husband got orders last week and let’s just say that I’m kind of in panic mode right now!

We had originally been hoping to go back out towards the west coast and when creating our list of our top five bases last November, we chose all stateside bases.  Thought we’d keep it simple since we wanted to be close to family.

But…the Air Force had other plans.

I guess that truly is the only thing you can plan on in the military = not planning on anything, lol!

Soooo…off we go on our journey across the pond!

Union Jack quilt block.

Jolly old England!

Seriously…I’m in shock.
But a good kind of shock…mixed with the ‘how the hell am I going to get everything done by June to move across the world’ kind of shock.

Stress and more stress.
And I don’t tend to handle stress well, lol!

Biggest stress is figuring out how to get our dogs over there since pugs are banned from flying on airlines during the summer months (heat and pugs don’t mix).  But they’re family…so we will figure something out!  Also, we are going to have to sell or put a ton of our things and furniture in storage.  I need to get moving on all of this!

Aside from the stress, we’re pretty excited for this unexpected news.  I’ve actually traveled to England before…way back in high school and loved it.  We’re viewing this as a once in a lifetime experience and plan on making the most out of it!  🙂

Oh and I’ve already got the Downton Abbey mansion on my list of things to see while we are there…gotta have priorities, right?  Ha!

To follow our PCS to England, be sure to read my other posts HERE.

Do you live in England, have you lived abroad or do you just have any advice for me and my family?  Leave me a comment since I’d love to hear from you!

Hey Morgan, it’s so funny, I just posted on my blog today that we just found out we’re moving back to the US from England and then I popped onto FB and saw your post. We’re not on an Air Force base (husband is Army attending the UK Defense Academy) but if you have any questions please shoot me an email! It was logistically challenging but amazing once we got here! ~Melissa

That’s exciting, we are in the process of moving to Canada (from England). We are friendly folk, but I hope you ready for the rain, but when the sun does shine it’s beautiful! And April and May are usually good months. Just enjoy it 🙂 we found it weird how many things are the same but just not quite right. We were from Leeds, in the north of England. Very excited for you
