Wondering how you can take care of your vision and help a child in need of vision care? One in four children has an undiagnosed vision problem. Right now, when you purchase an individual vision insurance plan from VSP Direct™ for as low as $17/month, a child in need receives a free eye exam and glasses, up to a retail value of $1 million. I’m lost without my glasses (or contacts)…
Before I had gone to the eye exam that would change my life at 16 years old, I had been putting up with blurry vision. I didn’t know what I was missing. I had the exam and glasses changed how I saw the world. Everything was clear and I saw so many more details in the world around me. It was pretty exciting (totally cheesy, but completely the truth!).
Years later, I’m now a mother and the importance of taking care of my vision is even more important for me…and my children too! From watching my little girls play to seeing them grow, I use my sight everyday and couldn’t be more thankful for the vision I have (well…there are a few things I wish I didn’t see like the time that Mabel dumped all the lotion all over the floor in her room…but that’s another story). And here is a random tidbit for all of you mommas out there: Did you know that by age 5, children should have had 3 eye exams?

And here comes my motherly spiel: get a yearly eye exam to protect the vision you have! And if you think it’s too expensive…it’s not! You can get vision insurance through VSP Direct for as little at $17 a month. That covers and eye exam, an allowance for glasses and contacts, and is 100% satisfaction guaranteed! That’s just a little price to pay in order to ensure that you’ll get the most out life and your sight!
VSP Direct is also doing a really great thing for children in need through their #EyeGiveBack campaign: through June 30th, with each vision care purchase, they are donating an eye exam and a pair of glasses to a child! Being a glasses wearer myself and a mother, this truly means a lot to me knowing that kids who otherwise couldn’t afford vision care will be the recipients of a really great gift. Can you envision the wonderful impact this campaign will have? With 1 in 4 kiddos having an undetected vision problem and the fact that 20% of kiddos have trouble reading due to vision issues, this campaign will change a lot of childrens’ lives by helping them out!
